GPS waypoint auto-timing

Updated just now · 9 views ·

GPS waypoint timing is the equivalent of NFC triggering but for outdoor processes - deliveries, site-to-site transfers, gemba walks across a large plant.

Set waypoints

  1. In the iPhone app, open a stage.
  2. Tap Add GPS trigger.
  3. Drop a start pin at the origin and an end pin at the destination.
  4. Set the geofence radius (default 50 m).

How it works

As soon as the phone crosses the start geofence, the step timer starts. When it crosses the end geofence, the step stops. Works in the background - the phone can be locked in a pocket.

Battery

Background GPS is the biggest battery drain on a long recording. Use waypoints only where you need them; keep manual step advance for the rest. Expect ~15% battery per hour of active GPS.
