Privacy Policy — ValueStream by MapVS

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored securely hashed). If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe; we do not store credit card numbers.

Process Data: Value stream maps, process recordings, photos, timestamps, stage data, and annotations you create within the platform. This is your data — you control it.

Device Information: When using our mobile or desktop apps, we may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility and support purposes.

Usage Analytics: We collect anonymised usage data (page views, feature usage) to improve the product. This does not include your process data content.

Camera & Photos: The mobile app may access your camera and photo library solely to capture process step photos during recording. Photos are stored on your device and uploaded only when you explicitly sync to your MapVS account.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the ValueStream service
To process your transactions and manage your subscription
To send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, billing receipts)
To provide customer support
To improve and develop new features
If you opt in to benchmarking, to generate anonymised industry averages

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with:

Stripe — for payment processing
Resend — for transactional email delivery
DigitalOcean — for hosting infrastructure
Law enforcement — only when required by law

If you enable benchmarking opt-in, your process metrics are aggregated and anonymised before being included in industry averages. No individual data is ever identifiable.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on encrypted servers. We use HTTPS for all data in transit, bcrypt for password hashing, and follow industry-standard security practices. Process recordings and photos are stored securely and accessible only to your account.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete individual maps, recordings, or your entire account at any time. Upon account deletion, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your account and data
Export your data (CSV/PDF export is available)
Withdraw consent for optional processing (e.g., benchmarking)

7. Children's Privacy

ValueStream is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
