Using templates to get started quickly

Industry-Specific Templates

MapVS includes a library of pre-built templates covering manufacturing, healthcare, software, logistics, and more. Templates give you a head start with realistic stage names, typical metrics, and industry-standard layouts.

Browsing templates

Visit the Templates page from the main navigation. You can filter by:

• Industry — Manufacturing, healthcare, software, retail, logistics, construction, and more.
• Complexity — Simple (3-5 stages), standard (6-10 stages), or advanced (10+ stages).
• Rating — Community-rated templates ranked by usefulness.

Using a template

1. Click on any template to preview its stages and metrics.
2. Click Use Template to create a new map based on it.
3. Customise the stage names, timing data, and other metrics to match your actual process.

Creating your own templates

Pro users can save any map as a reusable template. This is particularly useful when:

• You have multiple similar processes that share a common structure.
• You want to standardise how your team creates value stream maps.
• You have developed a best-practice layout for your industry.

To save a map as a template, open the map and click Save as Template from the menu.
