Understanding the dashboard metrics

Your Dashboard at a Glance

The MapVS dashboard gives you an overview of all your value stream maps and key performance indicators. Here is what each section means.

Summary Cards

  • Total Maps — The number of value stream maps you have created.
  • Active Maps — Maps that have been updated in the last 30 days.
  • Total Stages — The combined number of process stages across all your maps.
  • Avg Efficiency — The average ratio of value-added time to total lead time across your maps. Higher is better.

Efficiency Trend

The efficiency trend chart shows how your process efficiency has changed over time. Each data point represents a snapshot — taken automatically when you update a map or manually when you save a snapshot.

Recent Activity

Shows your most recent actions: maps created, stages modified, scenarios run, and recordings completed. Use this to quickly resume where you left off.

Bottleneck Alerts

If any of your maps have stages where cycle time significantly exceeds the average, the dashboard highlights them as bottleneck alerts. Click through to see detailed analysis and improvement suggestions.

Making the most of your dashboard

Visit your dashboard regularly to track improvement over time. The efficiency trend is particularly valuable for demonstrating the impact of lean initiatives to stakeholders.
